Pilates was invented by Joeseph Pilates to rehabilitate injured dancers. It uses concise controlled movements designed to strengthen individual muscle groups from in the inside out creating long lean muscles. It can improve your posture too, while increasing your body awareness. Pilates is accessible to people of all fitness levels and can be the ultimate cross-training routine, offering individuals of all abilities an opportunity to reach their next level. Bring your mat and join us for mat pilates to challenge and increase your core body strength and improve your flexibility. Jeannette Richards is a certified Pilates instructor. She taught in Cincinnati, Ohio for 8 years and prefers the challenge of mat pilates. She has run several marathons, including the Boston Marathon 3 times. Doing Pilates is a great way to stay flexible and strengthen all muscle groups. Participants must be at least 18 years old and not enrolled in school.
Paint vibrant watercolors with confidence! The emphasis for this class will be on learning the basic watercolor techniques for successful watercolor painting. The former student will have the opportunity to develop more confidence by perfecting their current skill level, while the more experienced student will explore their personal style. Class exercises include: learning about materials, color mixing, color theory, and watercolor techniques. Demonstrations, group critiques, and independent exercises will further enhance your learning experience. No prior painting experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcomed. 7 week class. No class February 19. Carolyn Wallace-Zani owns her own studio. She conducts painting and drawing classes and workshops locally and at the University of Maine Page Farm And Home Museum. Her work is widely collected and her award-winning artwork was recently chosen as part of the Art In the Capitol program at the State House in Augusta.
This course will teach the basics in the ballroom dance styles of swing and waltz. These dances are partner dances, so participants must register with a partner. This course will also teach timing, leading and following skills necessary to succeed in all partner dances. Each couple will progress at an individual pace. No previous dance experience is necessary. Sneakers are the recommended foot attire.
